Having obtained his Medical degree in 1995 at Sheffield, England, Andrew went through basic then higher surgical training in Nottingham and qualified as an ENT specialist in 2007. Following this he did a further year Fellowship in Rhinology in Plymouth, then a Consultant post in Cheltenham and Gloucester. He moved to Hawke's Bay with his family in 2009 and has worked at Hawke's Bay Hospital and in the private sector since.
His area of interest and clinical expertise is Rhinology and Facial Plastics. This includes complex Septorhinoplasty, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Otoplasty and the treatment of facial Skin Cancer including major reconstructive surgery. He is the current Head of the ENT Department and has previously been Chair of the local skin cancer interest group. He is a member of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastics, the Australian and New Zealand Rhinological Society and the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeons. He regularly presents at meetings and conferences and has published a number of articles.
